Nia Imani Winslow (b. 1989), originally from Washington, DC, is an emerging collage artist based in Brooklyn, New York. Nia draws from her proclivity for fashion and inspirations from Black artists such as Romare Bearden, Kerry James Marshall and Jacob Lawrence to illustrate Black figures in their colorful essence. Using paper as her preferred material, Nia combines the complexities of different textures, cuttings and clippings to illuminate figures, moods and stories. Vibrant hues and tints are used to convey the striking spirit every Black life possesses. Through her artistry, Nia combines her style and medium to inspire self-love and inventiveness in individuals, with a principal focus on Black women and men.
